Hilton Head

Last week was a week of firsts for Beckett...first plane ride, first time at the beach, first time in a pool, first bike ride...you get the picture.

On Wednesday Sam, Beckett, and I headed to Charlotte, NC to visit my sister. I must admit that I am really not a big fan of flying. I know what the statistics say...you are much more likely to get killed on the way to the airport, etc, etc. Still, I have an unrealistic fear of flying...like the plane is just going to shut down mid-flight and we will fall from the sky. Needless to say I was the most nervous about this part of the trip. Ironically having a baby in my lap pushed all of my flying fears aside and replaced them with the fear of a screaming child for 2 hours. But Beckett was an angel! He slept a majority of the way to Charlotte and home. His schedule since we've been back has been a different story, but that's neither here nor there.

We spent Wednesday night at my sister's condo that she bought last year. Props to Jenny for a fantastic decorating job. Then we headed to Winston-Salem on Thursday to spend the day with Carla and Addison. It was great to see old friends, and I really think Beckett enjoys being around older kids. When we got back to Charlotte we then headed to Hilton Head where we spent Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.

Hilton Head is such a neat place. It very much has a neighborhood feel, and people ride bikes everywhere. We spent some time at the beach, played in the pool, and biked to the pier for a drink. Thanks so much to Chris and Jenny for being fabulous hosts! We had so much fun and hope to see you guys again soon!

Happy 1/2 Birthday, Beckett!!

Dear Beckett,

I can't believe you are 6 months old today! You are growing up before our very eyes, and what a joy it has been to watch you grow and change! You are learning new things everyday, and it is so much fun for Daddy and me to see you figure things out on your own.

You can now sit up and roll over, grab your toys and your toes, and even hold your own bottle. You are eating oatmeal and tried prunes for the first time today...you loved them! You certainly love to eat :)

You make the silliest noises and love to squeal at the top of your lungs. Mommy has learned how to tickle you and get you to laugh really hard. You also love to play peek-a-boo, and have become very curious about your dog, George. Mommy and Daddy can't wait to see the two of you play when you get older. You love to grab his ears, and he loves to lick your face. George is very protective of you.

So Happy 1/2 Birthday baby boy! We love you more than we could have ever imagined!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Shame on me

It's been almost a month since the last blog so shame on me. Beckett is growing so much and changing so quickly that I feel really bad when I go so long in between posts.

He is now almost 6 months old, and he is really beginning to develop a personality. Beckett is almost sitting up and can stand with a little help. Luckily for now...he doesn't seem to be anywhere close to crawling. These pics are from a few weeks ago.

I should have known the session would be a challenge when this was the first picture I got.

Normally I don't like to take pics with the paci in the mouth...today it wasn't an option.

As if he's thinking...aren't you done yet??

Everything goes in the mouth!!
Stay tuned. We are headed to the beach with Aunt Jenny next week so I'm sure there will be an abundance of pictures when we return.
