Last week Beckett and I spent a few days with my mom and aunt at a very fun and very family friendly resort just outside of Bastrop. Sam and I had taken Beckett to Lost Pines last summer, but he was too young to really enjoy most of it. This time was a different story!
Beckett had a blast chasing his beach ball on the splash pad, going down the much-too-big-for-him water slide, and running full speed down a huge hill. He also spent some time building sand castles and sipping his Capri Sun poolside. Not wanting him to drink alone, Char, Norma and I indulged in some frozen beverages poolside as well :) Beckett absolutely wore himself out playing so hard and ended up taking a 4 hour nap the second day we were there!
About the only thing Beckett did not enjoy besides floating in the lazy river (what?!?!?) was dining in a restaurant. And if I'm being honest, we did not enjoy dining WITH him in the restaurant. Beck is getting to the age where he hates being confined in a highchair when we go out to eat so our meal consisted of lots of screaming and very little food intake. Needless to say we decided to dine outside for the rest of the trip, and it worked out much better for all of us.
Beckett also got to make two new friends during the trip, T-bone and Rib Eye. No...those aren't up and coming kid names you'll see in a Pottery Barn catalog anytime soon. They were two longhorns roaming the property for a photo shoot.
To add to its ambiance Lost Pines has a campfire each night where guests can roast marshmallows and make smores. Beckett really enjoyed eating the marshmallows off of the skewers but could have cared less about the whole smore making process or the chocolate/marshmallow/graham cracker combination. It's a shame...I know...we're working on it.
All-in-all it was a really great trip, and if we could have stayed for a few more days (or weeks!) I think we would have. My little man had such a good time he slept the whole way home!
Thanks to Aunt Norma for taking all of these pics since my camera battery was dead.
